Why should you choose the Pre-Master's in Business and Management?

This online programme is ideal for you if you are an international student and wish to bridge the gap between your undergraduate qualifications and the requirements of a postgraduate degree in the UK. The programme will equip you with the academic and language skills you need and fill study gaps if you have been away from academic life.  

We offer three routes to the programme depending on your English language and academic requirements: a 10-week (1 term) and 20-week (2 terms) Pre-Master’ which covers language and academic business modules, and a 14-week Pre-Master’s Plus which provides students with intensive English language classes in addition to the standard 1-term option.  

This unique programme will equip you with the necessary skills you need to succeed in your postgraduate degree at a wide range of partner universities in the UK. 

Learning Outcomes

The Pre-Master’s programme is delivered Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 18:00 UK time, in small groups. Lessons are made up of the following: 

  • 7 hours of video lessons and self-study tasks a week on our Learning Platform so you can study at a time that works for you. 
  • 12 hours of live lessons a week taught through our innovative learning platform. 
  • 1 personal tutorial twice.

After or upon successful completion of the Pre-Master’s, you will:

  • Have improved English and study skills to achieve at least Oxford ELLT level 7 or IELTS level 6.5.
  • Be equipped with in-demand business and management skills and increased understanding of the business environment.
  • Understand essential concepts in business, management, strategy, finance, and marketing.
  • Have knowledge about different types of organisations, business environments, management structures, and the concepts of strategy.
  • Develop a broad range of contemporary business knowledge if you are new to the subject area or if you have not studied a long diploma programme (or equivalent).

Business Communication and Academic Study Skills (BCASS) (20 credits) 

This module gives students the key business tools, terminology, English language, as well academic study skills required for master’s study.

Business Strategy and Environment (BSE) (20 credits) 

This module allows students to develop knowledge and skills of business strategy and the impacts of the business environment.

Business and Management (BM) (20 credits) 

This module highlights some of the key theories and practices in how business functions and operates.

Business Communication and Academic Study Skills (BCASS) (20 credits)

Business Fundamentals and Marketing (BFM) (20 credits) 

This module introduces students to key concepts and theories in general business and the marketing functions that support this.

Fundamentals of Finance in Business (FFB) (20 credits) 

This module provides students with a knowledge of the role and function of accounting and finance in relation to business.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (20 credits) 

This module is a dedicated language module aimed at transitioning your current knowledge of general English to academic functions and application in higher education.

Intensive English for Academic Purposes + One-Term Modules

Completing our Pre-Master’s Programme can lead to admission in postgraduate degrees in business at partner universities. Several of our university partners also offer opportunities for progression into a broader selection of non-business degree programmes.

Minimum of Oxford ELLT 5 (no component below 4)/IELTS 5.5 (no component below 5), or equivalent.

  • Academic:

Undergraduate degree or diploma

1-Term Pre-Master’s Programme

  • Language:

Minimum of Oxford ELLT 6 (no component below 5)/IELTS 6 (no component below 5.5), or equivalent.

  • Academic:

Undergraduate degree or diploma in a business-related subject

Pre-Master’s Plus Programme 

  • Language:

Minimum of Oxford ELLT 5 (no component below 4)/IELTS 5.5 (no component below 5), or equivalent.

Undergraduate degree or diploma in a business-related subject
