This course covers the topics below through a combination of independent study and live lessons with an expert tutor:

Students will be expected to carry out weekly two hours of asynchronous tasks which will be provided on a Moodle platform. Tasks will typically include reading tasks based on a particular topic. Students will also be expected to complete several activities prior to joining the live class.

The live class will be conducted on TEAMS with an emphasis on collaborative task-based coding activities. Students will be required to undergo an assessment at the end of the course to test the skills they have learned.

Introduction to the course, three layers of a webpage (structure, behaviour and style). Headings, paragraphs, and simple in-line styling.

Structuring webpages with block and in-line elements. Hyperlinks and iFrames for multimedia such as video and audio.

Introduction to HTML 5 and new features. Forms and user input types (checkboxes, radio buttons, input fields, textareas). Create an example sign-up form in HTML.

Structuring webpages (Create an example blog using HTML 5 semantic tags).

Embed tables and ordered and unordered lists. Add styling using the box model which incorporates paddings, margins and borders.

This course runs over a two-week period and requires 10 hours of study. This includes:

  • 5 hours per week (2 x 90mins online lessons + 2 hrs asynchronous flexible learning)
  • A practical assessment will be required at the end of the course which will be used to test key coding skills acquired over the duration of the course.

This course will provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to carry out designing webpages.

Especially designed for students who require a grounding in theory and practice of HTML. This is an entry level course for students with no or little programming background.

 The course has been designed for beginners, though you should have a basic understanding of using computers, such as using the internet, creating files, and installing software.
