Students will be expected to carry out two hours of asynchronous tasks which will be provided on a Moodle platform. Tasks will typically include reading tasks based on a particular topic. Students will also be expected to complete several activities prior to joining the live class.
The live class will be conducted on TEAMS with an emphasis on collaborative task-based coding activities. Students will be required to undergo an assessment at the end of the course to test the skills they have learned.
Introduction to the course. JavaScript syntax.
Variables – assigning and declaring. Data types, arrays, operators.
Functions (declaring, calling, functions with parameters), returning values, argument objects.
Loops and decisions. For, Do and Do..while loops.
Conditional statements. If, If…else and switch statements. Comparison and logical operators.
Objects – the dot notation, array notation, modifying values, deleting values. Creating objects with properties and methods. Built-in objects (Math, Array and Date objects).
Events – Load, focus and blur events, determining the cursor position. Form events – validation.
Event listeners (DOM Event handlers, using event listeners).

Especially designed for students who require a grounding in theory and practice of JavaScript. Students taking this course should have some prior knowledge of HTML and/or CSS.
