ELLT contributes to successful international growth

When the University of Roehampton implemented our English Language Level Test (ELLT), they ensured that they could continue to grow their international student numbers despite the pandemic.

As a result of the pandemic, the start of the first lockdown in the UK brought the University of Roehampton a number of student recruitment challenges. As an organisation, they had to act quickly and think of how they could innovate to successfully welcome international students to the university.

One of the challenges they faced was that IELTS test centres were closed in many of their key markets, making it impossible for students to meet the English language conditions in time to join their chosen degree course.

They needed a high-quality and secure English language test that could be offered online. Our ELLT is robust, secure and competitive and was the solution to change the University of Roehampton’s challenges into opportunities. Our solution met all their requirements and was easy to administer, over and above this our teams worked together with a positive – we can do it – attitude and this not only delivered results but strengthened our ongoing partnership.

Looking back at our September 2020 intake, I do not doubt that implementing the right online English language test quickly, has contributed to the University’s successful international growth. The pass rate was excellent, and the OI Digital Institute team worked with us to make every part of the process efficient. The communication with prospective students was excellent, and information such as bookings and results were promptly shared with the University.

The English language test booking to enrolment ratio was very satisfactory. The facts show that we would not have exceeded our targets unless we had implemented this solution the way we did. It was the right strategy to collaborate with OI Digital Institute, a partner full of innovative ideas.
