“I am excited to welcome Michael to the OIDI team. His experience, which spans gamified early-years practice tools to high-stakes assessment systems at scale, will be invaluable to further enhancing the experience of both students and academic partners through the ongoing development of the Oxford ELLT and Spotlight assessments. “

Gary Palmer, Managing Director of OIDI

Michael brings over two decades of experience shaping educational solutions that help learners achieve stronger outcomes, with expertise spanning product strategy, user research, and data-informed innovation.

He began his career in journalism before moving to EdTech in 2012. He oversaw the creation and launch of TES Institute and served as Director or TES Resources, then the world’s most widely used lesson-sharing platform. Michael also led product strategy for Infinitas Learning, one of Europe’s largest education publishers. His work ranged from gamified early-years practice tools to high-stakes assessment systems, supporting both formal and informal learning at scale.

A strong advocate for evidence-led education technology, Michael will focus on identifying genuine learner needs through rigorous user research and applying the latest educational insights to further drive measurable impact.

“I believe that care must be taken to develop EdTech that actually lifts students’ results. Whether that means considering their ability to access technology or taking into account complicated external factors at play, as in the case of displaced test takers. I am excited about leading our user-centric and data-powered research to inform tangible updates to our products and, ultimately, real outcomes for our learners and academic partners. “
