Oxford International Digital Institute appoints Dr. Ella Soper as Senior Vice President, Global Sales – Language Testing

Oxford International Digital Institute (OIDI) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Ella Soper as Senior Vice President, Global Sales – Language Testing, strengthening the organisation’s global leadership team as it continues to expand the reach and recognition of its language assessment portfolio.

In her new role, Ella will lead the global commercial strategy for OIDI’s Language Testing division, driving international growth, market expansion, and the adoption of OIDI’s language assessment solutions across higher education, government, workforce, and professional sectors.

Ella will lead a global commercial organisation spanning Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. She will work closely with academic partners, English language providers, governments, employers, professional organisations, and recruitment agencies to strengthen the recognition and adoption of the Oxford ELLT and Oxford ELLT Spotlight, while building long-term partnerships that support international education, workforce readiness, and global mobility.

Ella brings more than 15 years of international leadership experience across language assessment, digital learning, and higher education. Prior to joining OIDI, she held senior leadership positions at IDP Education, where she led the global launch and commercialisation of an AI-powered English proficiency test, and Pearson Online Learning Services, where she worked with universities to develop strategic partnerships and expand access to high-quality online education.

Throughout her career, Ella has successfully developed international growth strategies and commercial partnerships across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East. Her experience spans commercial strategy, business development, market expansion, product commercialisation, and building high-performing global teams.

Commenting on her appointment, Ella said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Oxford International Digital Institute at such an important point in its growth. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping learners achieve their educational and professional goals, while supporting the institutions that enable their success. I’m excited by the opportunity to work with colleagues, customers and partners to build on the success of the Oxford ELLT and Oxford ELLT Spotlight, expand access to trusted English language assessment, and help more people access opportunities in education, employment and global mobility.”

Gary Palmer, Managing Director at Oxford International Digital Institute, added:

“Ella combines expertise in language assessment with an impressive track record of building and leading international commercial teams. Her academic background ensures both integrity and rigour remain at the heart of our assessment products, while demonstrating her ability to innovate and drive the right product mix for our increasingly diverse partnerships. I’m excited to welcome her to the team.

Andy Caldwell, Chief Commercial Officer at Oxford International, agreed:

“Ella has built her career around creating sustainable commercial growth through strong partnerships, strategic thinking and customer focus. Her appointment further strengthens our global commercial leadership as we continue to expand our language testing portfolio, enter new markets and create even greater value for our partners around the world. I’m looking forward to working closely with her as we continue that journey.”

Ella holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and has built a career at the intersection of education, technology, and commercial innovation.
